National Play Outside Day
National Play Outside Day was created in 2011 by Aaron Wiggans and Rhonda D. Abeyta. They were inspired to start this initiative after noticing how children had become increasingly preoccupied with digital devices, leading to a decline in outdoor play. Their goal was to encourage families and communities to embrace the benefits of outdoor activities, both for physical and mental well-being.
Remember the joy of scraped knees, muddy hands, and the endless possibilities of a sunny afternoon? At Life is Better Outside, we're passionate about bringing that magic back into everyday life! That's why we're HUGE fans of National Play Outside Day, and we want you to be too! Celebrated on the first Saturday of every month, National Play Outside Day is your reminder to ditch the screens, breathe in the fresh air, and create lasting memories with your family and friends. It's more than just play; it's about connection, creativity, and a healthier, happier you!
Why is National Play Outside Day So Important?
In a world dominated by technology, it's easy to forget the simple joys of the outdoors. National Play Outside Day gives us a chance to:
- Reconnect with nature: Feel the sun on your skin and the grass beneath your feet
- Boost your well-being: Fresh air and physical activity are proven mood boosters!
- Create lasting memories: These are the moments your kids (and you!) will cherish forever.
- Strengthen bonds: Playing together as a family fosters communication and connection.
- Unleash Creativity: Nature is the perfect backdrop for inventing, exploring, and imagining!
